Vicksburg, MS: North Union Avenue between Grant Avenue and the USS Cairo Museum within Vicksburg National Military Park is closed to all vehicle traffic. On the morning of Feb. 22, 2018, park staff identified a section of road near the Navy Monument that has been impacted by soil erosion from the recent heavy rains. Park staff is assessing the situation.
The USS Cairo Museum and National Cemetery remain accessible from Ft. Hill Drive, and the majority of the park tour road remains open. Visitors are encouraged to start their visit at the Visitor Center to obtain a park map and an explanation of tour route detours.
Confederate Avenue between Ft. Hill and Graveyard Road remains closed due to stormwater impacts during the rain events following Hurricane Harvey in September of 2017.
