Junior Ranger Day Celebration at Pecos National Historical Park

Pecos, NM: To celebrate the debut of our new Junior Ranger Activity Booklet, Pecos National Historical Park will host a free Junior Ranger Day on Saturday, July 21st, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Families and children of all ages are invited to participate in fun, family-friendly events and earn their Junior Ranger badges and patches. Please note that space is limited for story time and the bug presentation; reservations must be made by calling 505-757-7241.

Preschool Story Time

10:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.

Kiva Theater

The theme for our July story time is camping! The event will include a reading of Olivia Goes Camping, songs, a movement activity, a special craft, and a snack.

Creepy Crawly Bug Presentation with the Harrell House Bug Museum

10:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.

Pecos Room

Get up close and personal with a live animal presentation by our friends from the Harrell House Bug Museum. Touch some of the friendly, harmless bugs and learn more about the fascinating world of insects.

Junior Ranger Expo

11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

Visitor Center

Time for Junior Rangers to roll up their sleeves and try their hands at fish printing, corn grinding with a mano and metate, and skins and skulls identification.

Refreshments

11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

Apple juice, fruit, and crackers will be available to everyone! (Gluten-free options available.)

From I-25 N: Take the Pecos/Glorieta Exit, #299. Left onto overpass, right onto Route 50; proceed on Route 50 for eight miles. At the village of Pecos, take a right at the four-way stop onto Route 63. In two miles, the park will be on your right. From I-25 S: Take the Rowe Exit, #307. Follow signs. From Highway 63, the park will be on your left.
