Statement on Proud Mary Restaurant

The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on Aug. 24, 2018. It is reproduced in full below.

On Aug. 20, 2018, the National Park Service terminated its contract with Proud Mary, Inc., and as a result Proud Mary Restaurant is now closed. The terms of the contract required the operator to meet public safety, fire code, and financial obligations. After working with the operator for more than a year to try to correct the contract violations, issues remained during a final inspection on August 20th.

There are no immediate plans for another operator to come in under a temporary contract. The National Park Service will take proposals for businesses to operate at Fort Washington Marina in 2019. We expect a new restaurant will open by early 2020.
