Commercial Use Authorizations For Guided Astronomy and Hiking Tours

Beginning Wednesday Sept. 19, 2018, Haleakalā National Park will accept applications for guided astronomy and hiking tour Commercial Use Authorizations (CUAs), valid for up to two years. All applications must be received by the park by close of business Oct. 24, 2018.

The numbers and types of commercial tour services appropriate for the frontcountry areas of the park are identified in the park’s Commercial Services Plan (available online at: www.nps.gov/hale/parkmgmt) which also specifies the maximum number of permits to be issued - up to four (4) astronomy tour permits and up to six (6) guided hiking tour permits. If there are more qualified applicants than the maximum allowed, a competitive process will be used to evaluate and award CUAs.
