El Malpais Information Center Closing for Season

Grants, NM - As the summer season ends, National Park Service Superintendent Mitzi Frank will close the El Malpais Information Center located off of Highway 53, 21 miles south and west of Grants, NM beginning October 1 for fall and winter seasons.

Visitors are still able to obtain free cave permits and other information about the monument at the El Malpais National Monument Visitor Center located at 1900 E. Santa Fe Avenue, Grants, NM., seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Cave permits are also available at El Morro National Monument seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The public can see exhibits in both visitor centers and purchase items like flashlights, books, maps, and t-shirts. These purchases from the Western National Parks Association park store help support the National Park Service mission at El Malpais and El Morro National Monuments.
