GLACIER BAY NATIONAL PARK & PRESERVE, Alaska - The National Park Service has selected the businesses which will provide exclusive charter vessel and related services in Glacier Bay National Park starting next spring.
A prospectus soliciting proposals for charter vessel services was issued in March 2018. A panel of technical experts reviewed each proposal package, and new ten-year concession contracts were awarded to seventeen businesses: Alaska Dream Cruises, Alaska Glacier Guides Inc., Alaska Yacht Charters, Alaska Yacht Guides LLC, Chichagof Charters, Elfin Cove Resort, Fairweather Adventures at Glacier Bay LLC, First Out Last In Yacht Adventures, Glacier Bay Inn LLC, Gustavus Water Taxi LLC, Northwest Navigation Co. Inc., Pacific Catalyst II Inc., Sea Wolf Adventures Inc., Snow Goose, Sound Sailing, Southeast Alaskan Adventures, Tanaku Lodge LLC
Contracts will be effective Jan. 1, 2019.
“I am very excited at the number of quality applicants for Glacier Bay charter vessel services. The diversity and quality of operators, their extensive local knowledge, and their appreciation of this special place is what one hopes for in a contract like this.“ said park superintendent Philip Hooge.
Charter vessels offer a way for small and diverse groups of visitors to experience Glacier Bay National Park. With the issuance of these contracts, Glacier Bay National Park & Preserve will no longer be issuing Commercial Use Authorizations (CUA) for charter vessels services. In the upcoming month, contracts will be sent to the operators for final signature and execution.
