Pipestone, MN: To honor America’s service men and women, all areas managed by the National Park Service, including Pipestone National Monument, will offer FREE entry on Sunday, November 11th, 2018.
Today the National Park Service employs over 5,800 active-duty military and veterans (28 percent of our workforce) in a wide array of careers. Currently there are two veterans employed at Pipestone National Monument, Ed Johnson & Natalie Barber. Ed is a retired Navy veteran, and Natalie served six years in the Marines. To learn more about veterans in the National Park Service visit: https://www.nps.gov/subjects/military/support-staff.htm.
The National Park Service is honored to offer the fee free day to thank our nation’s brave service men and women for their sacrifices and achievements. We invite all of our visitors to enjoy the free day and take time to remember our service men and women.
The Monument Visitor Center is open daily, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Pipestone Indian Shrine Association gift shop located in the Visitor Center is open the same hours.
The fall and winter seasons offer many photographic opportunities of the prairie and wildlife. During this quiet time of the year, visiting the Monument and walking the Circle Trail can be particularly enjoyable and peaceful.
