Rome, NY - On Saturday, Nov. 24, Fort Stanwix National Monument will be hosting the
annual Holiday Open House. This special event highlights the winter traditions of the residents of 18th Century and the Mohawk Valley. The festivities begin at 6:30 p.m. and end at 8:30 p.m. and are free of charge.
Open house activities will include a holiday sing-along and a chance to make a New Year’s “wish chain" for Junior Rangers and their families. Visitors will be invited to share their modern holiday traditions as well.
“Everyone is invited to sing and be merry! This event is unique for winter visitors, who will be able to have amazing opportunities to see the candlelit fort decorated as the soldiers and their families would have remembered from home," said Park Ranger Kelly Roman. “Bring your family and friends for a relaxing post-Thanksgiving evening!"
For those unable to attend, the fort will be available for holiday viewing through the end of November. This is the last event of the calendar year taking place at Fort Stanwix National Monument. Events for 2019 will be listed on www.nps.gov/fost in the coming weeks. All park events are free.
