Celebrate Hempstead County Bicentennial

Beginning at 10:00 a.m. inside of Hempstead Hall in Hope, AR the public is invited to attend the celebration of Hempstead County turning 200. Join Hempstead County natives Mack McLarty, former Chief of Staff for President William Jefferson Clinton, Judge Lavenski R. Smith, Chief Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the 8th Circuit, Little Rock Attorney and former president of the Clinton Birthplace Home Foundation Joe Purvis and Ellen Turner professor at Northwest Arkansas Community College in Bentonville.

Following the morning event, the celebration will move to downtown Hope. Beginning at 1:00 p.m. a parade from the current courthouse through downtown Hope to the future courthouse (Farmers Bank Building) will be held.

Following the parade, music, vendors and games will take place around Farmers Bank and Trust building and downtown Hope from 2:00-7:00 p.m.

Events will conclude with official cake cutting and fireworks at 6:00 p.m.
