HONOLULU, HI - On December 7, the National Park Service and the United States Navy will co-host the annual National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day Commemoration on the Ceremonial Lawn at the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center. The event begins promptly at 7:50 a.m. and lasts over an hour. Residents and visitors in the area should prepare for the following event-related activities occurring that morning.
Closure of Ford Island “Clarey" Bridge
The Ford Island Bridge will be closed to traffic from 7:15 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. on the morning of December 7 for a ship pass-in-review during the ceremony.
Ceremonial Activities
The remembrance ceremony on December 7 will also feature a “Missing Man" flyover by military fighters (weather permitting), a rifle salute, a vintage aircraft flyby with planes emitting patterns of decorative smoke, and the ringing of the USS Arizona bell.
Delays around Pearl Harbor
Plan for traffic delays along Kamehameha Highway and other roads leading to the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center and Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam due to event traffic.
Directions & Parking
Arrive early if you plan to attend the commemoration ceremony. The public is invited to park for free at the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center beginning at 6:00 a.m. Suggested driving routes can be found on the event website. Seats will be available to the public starting at 7:15 a.m. and are expected to go quickly.
Event Security
Bags that offer concealment are not allowed inside the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center. This includes (but is not limited to) purses, handbags, fanny packs, backpacks, and camera bags. People may bring wheelchairs, strollers, walkers, canes, umbrellas, jackets, sweaters, small wallets, medication, small cameras and camcorders, cell phones, and small sealable beverage containers. Items brought into the visitor center are subject to inspection: attendees will be screened by security staff. The USS Bowfin Submarine Museum & Park has a bag storage facility near the entrance to the visitor center. On December 7 this service will be available for free from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
