National Parks in Alaska Resume Full Operations

The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on Jan. 28, 2019. It is reproduced in full below.

With the enactment of a 3-week continuing resolution, National Park Service (NPS) areas in Alaska resumed regular operations on Monday, Jan. 28, 2019.

The NPS wishes to express thanks to our local communities and partners who extended support to both parks and employees during the partial lapse in appropriations over the past 5 weeks.

National Parks in Alaska were very fortunate to not have the impacts that some Parks in the lower 48 experienced. Due to low visitation in the winter and park remoteness, few services were disrupted and impact to park resources were minimal.

National Park Service employees throughout Alaska are happy to be back at work, serving the American people and welcoming visitors to their national parks.
