Glacier Bay Compendium Comment Period Open until March 25

The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on Feb. 25, 2019. It is reproduced in full below.

GUSTAVUS, Alaska-The public comment period for proposed changes to the Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve compendium runs Feb. 25, 2019, through March 25, 2019 to 10 pm Alaska Daylight Savings Time.

The park is proposing two changes: one relates to updating the availability of the park public use cabin to reflect changes in the state hunting seasons; the other relates to the collection of gull eggs. The compendium is a written compilation of designations, closures, permit requirements and other authorizations and restrictions adopted under discretionary authority found in the Code of Federal Regulations.

The public can review the proposed changes and submit comments electronically at the NPS Planning, Environment, and Compliance Portal here.

Comments may also be mailed to the National Park Service, Attn: Compendiums, Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve, PO Box 140, Gustavus, AK 99826.

Comments will not be accept by any other method. All comments received are subject to public release without modification, including any personal information provided.

The NPS completed its annual review of the park compendiums following the lapse in appropriations that closed federal offices for 35 days. Glacier Bay is the only Alaska park proposing changes to its compendium. The currently approved compendiums for other Alaska NPS units remain in effect until rescinded or replaced.
