Upcoming Lake Mead National Recreation Area Events Feb 28 - April 13

BOULDER CITY, Nevada - The following Lake Mead National Recreation Area events are happening Feb. 28 to April 13.

Fishing League Worldwide Fishing Tournament, Feb. 28- March 3

Around 300 Anglers with 150 boats will be participating in the FLW Fishing Tournament at Callville Bay Marina Feb. 28- March 3. This event will be telecast through live web streaming. For more information on this permitted event visit, https://www.flwfishing.com.

Ranger Program: Star Party, March 9

Join rangers at the Boulder Beach Amphitheater at 6:30 p.m. March 9 to learn more about the stars that make up the night sky. The Las Vegas Astronomical Society will be on hand for telescope viewing of distant constellations and far-away planets from 7-10 p.m. For more information, call 702-293-8990.

Volunteer Event: Cottonwood Cove Ecology Cleanup, March 9

Join a ranger to help with a cleanup at Cottonwood Cove March 9. Volunteers are needed to remove trash from the beaches and surrounding desert areas. To register, call 702-293-8714 or email LAKE_Volunteer_Coordinator@nps.gov.

Ranger Chat: Bugs and Blooms, March 10

Join a ranger at the Lake Mead Visitor Center at 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. March 10 to learn more about the interrelated and dynamic relationships that wildflowers and insects in the Mojave Desert share. For more information, call 702-293-8990.

BBSC St. Patrick’s Day Half Marathon, March 16

Around 700 runners will be participating in the St. Patrick’s Day Half Marathon March 16. The race includes a half marathon, 12K, 5K and one-mile run along a portion of the Historic Railroad Trail. For more information on this permitted event, visit http://www.bbscrun.com/stpatricksdayrun.

Ranger Chat: Wildflower Walk, March 17

Join a ranger for a wildflower walk near the Lake Mead Visitor Center at 2 p.m. March 17. Learn about the blooms that will bring color to the Mojave Desert as spring approaches. For more information, call 702-293-8990.

Ranger Hike: Majestic Canyon, March 23

Take a moderate three-mile guided hike through Lake Mead National Recreation Area's Majestic Canyon March 23. Enjoy vertical cliffs while hiking through colorful winding washes along the base of the River Mountains. Call 702-293-8990 to register or for more information. Reservations are required. Dogs are not permitted.

Ranger Hike: Bowl of Fire, March 30

Take a moderate to strenuous guided hike through Lake Mead National Recreation Area's Bowl of Fire March 30. Observe the colors while wandering among a variety of Aztec sandstone formations that are scattered through the Bowl of Fire. For more information and to make a reservation, call 702-293-8990. Volunteer Event: Great American Cleanup, April 6

Volunteer Event: Earth Day Seed Collection, April 13
