Serious Climbing Accident in Joshua Tree National Park

The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on April 4, 2019. It is reproduced in full below.

Rangers and emergency personnel responded to a climbing accident in the park on Wednesday. A Minnesota man in his 40s fell approximately 40 feet while climbing in the Quail Springs area of the park. A third party notified 911 who in turn contacted park protection rangers. The individual was evacuated by Riverside County Sheriff’s helicopter and taken to Desert Regional Hospital. The full extent of the man’s injuries is not known at this time.
