National Park Service seeks public input on proposed transportation upgrades to Fletcher’s Cove

The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on April 15, 2019. It is reproduced in full below.

WASHINGTON-The National Park Service (NPS) wants to learn what you think about proposed transportation upgrades to Fletcher’s Cove, also known as the Fletcher’s Boathouse area, in Washington, DC. The NPS welcomes your feedback and suggestions about our proposal to construct a new entrance and upgrade park roads and parking lots. These improvements will provide a more direct and safe transportation connection between Fletcher’s Cove and Canal Road, the C&O Canal towpath, and the Capital Crescent Trail.

The proposed project area is located on federal land between Canal Road and the Potomac River in the Palisades neighborhood of Washington, DC. This area is administered by the Chesapeake & Ohio (C&O) Canal National Historical Park. The C&O Canal National Historical Park is listed in the National Register of Historic Places and the DC Inventory of Historic Sites.
