The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on May 1, 2019. It is reproduced in full below.

Are you between 15 and 19 years old? Do you have what it takes to work for the National Park Service?

Martin Van Buren National Historic Site is looking for enthusiastic candidates to join our Youth Conservation Corps program for the summer of 2019. Selected participants will work alongside National Park Service employees to gain hands-on experience with conservation of natural and historic resources.

Youth Conservation Corps members work in a healthful outdoor setting on a variety of projects including maintaining trails, cleaning up park grounds, improving wildlife habitat, environmental education planning and teaching, digital media, historic building preservation, and more! You'll also participate in educational trainings and field trips, and engage with the core mission of the National Park Service (NPS).

Selected candidates will work 40 hours per week at $11.10 per hour during the months of July and August, and provided with a uniform. This is a non-residential program, and candidates must reside within the local commuting area.

For more information and to access the application form, please visit the NPS Youth Conservation Corps website. Please email completed applications to Rebekah Oakes at rebekah_oakes@nps.gov by Monday, May 20.
