WELLFLEET, MA. - United States Park Rangers of Cape Cod National Seashore are seeking the public’s help with identifying those responsible for an incident that damaged protected species habitat between Coast Guard Beach Eastham and Coast Guard Beach Truro, between the evening of May 4 and the morning of May 5.
Rangers are investigating an incident where an unauthorized vehicle drove onto the beach into areas that are cordoned off to protect piping plover habitat, an endangered species.
“The National Park Service is charged with resource protection, and we, in partnership with the local community, take that mandate seriously. The seashore is alarmed by this deliberate destruction of endangered species habitat, and we strongly encourage anyone with information to reach out to investigators," said Superintendent Brian Carlstrom.
