Water System Upgrade in the Kīpahulu District of Haleakalā National Park

Kīpahulu, Maui- On June 18, 2019, the National Park Service will begin to replace approximately 4,800 feet of waterline pipe in the Kīpahulu District of Haleakalā National Park. The construction project will replace the existing, aging pipe with a new, longer-lasting delivery system in order to prevent water disruptions that have occurred over the past few years in the District. The work will occur from the park water source, along the Hana Highway, to the Kīpahulu Visitor Center and campground.

The project will occur from June 2019 to January 2020 during business hours on weekdays. During the construction period, local residents and visitors driving on the Hana Highway may experience occasional traffic delays because of heavy equipment working along the road.
