Body of Adult Male Recovered at Stinson Beach

SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- On June 12, Golden Gate National Recreation Area Park Rangers and lifeguards recovered a body at 7:15 am at the north end of Stinson Beach.

The individual matches the description of a person reported missing on June 11, last seen at 6:40 pm swimming approximately 60 yards offshore at the south end of Stinson Beach. Park Lifeguards conducted an initial search. US Park Rangers, Marin County Fire Department, US Coast Guard (USCG), and Stinson Beach Volunteer Fire Department continued the area search with watercraft and rescue swimmers while Sonoma County Sheriffs Office, California Highway Patrol, and USCG helicopters searched by air until dark.

The name of the man will not be released out of respect for the privacy of the family following this tragic incident. Any further inquiries regarding the identity of the individual should be referred to the Marin County Coroner’s Office. No on-camera interviews will be conducted.
