The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on June 17, 2019. It is reproduced in full below.

EMINENCE, MO - Ozark National Scenic Riverways will host “Stars in the Night Sky" at Alley Spring on June 29 from 8 p.m. - 10 p.m. This free event is open to the public and telescopes are provided.

Join rangers at Alley Spring as we survey the night sky with local astronomer Ryan VanWinkle of Van Buren, Missouri, who will point out highlights. Participants are encouraged to bring a lawn chair, insect repellent and flashlight, and are welcome to bring a personal telescope. Few places remain where true darkness exists without the hindrance of light pollution. Alley Spring provides an excellent unhindered vantage area for star gazing.

Alley Spring is located five miles west of Eminence, Missouri, on State Route 106. For more information, phone (573) 226-3945, or visit the park’s Facebook page or website at www.nps.gov/ozar.
