Road Closures, parking restrictions on July 30 for 400th Anniversary of the First Legislative Assembly events at Historic Jamestowne and Jamestown Settlement

JAMESTOWN - On Tuesday, July 30, 2019, American Evolution, Jamestown Settlement and Historic Jamestowne will host events for the 400th Anniversary of the First Legislative Assembly. Due to the special events, the general public and visitors are urged to plan ahead and be aware of the changes to normal public access to roads, the ferry and parking that will be in place. Please plan ahead for arrival due to high traffic in the area.

Historic Jamestowne at Jamestown Island

Historic Jamestowne at Jamestown Island will be closed to the general public until 1 pm on Tuesday, July 30, 2019. Special programming for the public will begin at 2 pm and the American Evolution Fanfare to Democracy Concert will begin at 8 pm. Also on July 30, there will be no self-drive access to Historic Jamestowne; free satellite parking will be available.

Jamestown Settlement:

Jamestown Settlement will be closed to the general public until 2 pm on Tuesday, July 30. Special programming for the public will begin at 2 pm through 6 pm. Invited guests with parking credentials to the 400th Commemorative Session of the Virginia General Assembly must arrive at Jamestown Settlement by 9 am.

Road and Ferry Closures for Tuesday, July 30

* The Colonial Parkway will be closed to the public from Highway 199 West to Jamestown Island from 5 am to 1 pm.

* Jamestown Road (Highway 31) will be closed from 4-H Club Road West to the Jamestown-Scotland Ferry from 10 am to 1 pm.

* The Jamestown-Scotland Ferry will be closed from 10 am to 1 pm.

* Greensprings Road will be closed between Jamestown Road and 4-H Club Road between 10 am and 1 pm.

* State Route 359 will be closed between 10 am and 1 pm.

* Bicycle and pedestrian access are not allowed during these closures.

* The Jamestown Island Loop Road will be closed to all traffic all day on July 30.

* Williamsburg Area Transit Authority buses maybe be impacted, for more information, visit: gowata.org

Parking for Tuesday, July 30

No self-drive access will be permitted to Historic Jamestowne at Jamestown Island. Free satellite parking from 1 pm to 10 pm will be located at James River Association (also referred to as Neck-o-Land) parking area (1335 Colonial Parkway, Williamsburg, VA 23185.) A shuttle from Jamestown Settlement will bring visitors to Jamestown Island between 5 pm to 10 pm.

Jamestown Settlement will be open to the public from 2 pm to 6 pm. Self-drive to Jamestown Settlement and public parking at Jamestown Settlement will from 2 pm to 10 pm.

The American Evolution Fanfare to Democracy Concert at Historic Jamestowne at Jamestown Island will begin at 8 pm and doors will open at 5:30 pm. Complimentary shuttle buses will transport concert attendees starting at 5 pm from two designated parking lots located at Jamestown Settlement (2110 Jamestown Road, Williamsburg, VA 23185) and the James River Association (also referred to as Neck-o-Land) satellite parking lot (1335 Colonial Parkway, Williamsburg, VA 23185.)
