HARKERS ISLAND, NC - Cape Lookout National Seashore had previously reported incorrect times for participants planning to attend the Evening at the Cape programs set for Thursday, August 8, Friday, August 9, and Saturday, August 10.
The corrected times to check your party in with the Ranger is at 6:30 P.M., as the Ranger program begins promptly at 6:45 P.M. The ferry will return to Harkers Island by approximately 9:30 P.M. EDT.
The twilight Ranger-led excursions feature a ferry ride at dusk, and a chance to take in the view from the Cape Lookout Lighthouse around sunset.
Reservations are required for the programs, and began on Saturday, July 27 at 10 A.M. EDT, at www.recreation.gov. Each of the three tour nights can accommodate a maximum of 40 total participants.
The cost of the program is $28 (price includes ferry fee) and is weather dependent. All participants will travel together on a single ferry that departs from Harkers Island shortly after the program begins.
Children joining the climb must be at least 44-inches tall and able to climb the steps on their own. Children 12 years of age and younger must be accompanied by an adult (16 or older). Footwear is required as well. For more information, go to: http://go.nps.gov/eveningatcape.htm.
