Fruita, CO - Join National Park Service staff and volunteers to explore the night sky on Friday, Aug. 23, 2019. This event will take place at the Saddlehorn Picnic Area near the visitor center. The event will start at 7:30pm (before dark) with demonstrations and discussion areas. After dark participants will be able to check out stars and other celestial objects through the telescopes.
Some of the fun activities while it is still light dark will include
• Learning how the constellations got their names
• Finding out how telescopes work
• Exploring why dark night skies are critical to our environment
• Exploring ways we preserve dark night skies
Children participating in the event will receive the Jr Ranger Night Explorer activity book and patch.
