Windows Road to Close October 1 for Facility Improvements

The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on Sept. 24, 2019. It is reproduced in full below.

MOAB, UT- The National Park Service will temporarily close the Windows road at Arches National Park on Oct. 1, 2019, for construction work.

The road will close at 5:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 1 and remain closed until approximately 5:00 p.m. the same day. The closure will occur at the junction with the main park road. No vehicles, bicycles, or visitors will be able to reach the Garden of Eden, Windows, or Double Arch areas during the one-day closure.

Additionally, the main park road above Arches Visitor Center will close briefly (15-20 minutes) in the morning to allow oversize construction vehicles to safely pass through the switchbacks.

These closures will allow construction crews to install new vault toilets at The Windows Section as part of an ongoing project to expand and enhance visitor services in that parking lot. Visitor fees provided funding for these improvements.
