ASTRONOMY NIGHT FOR LITTLE RANGERS

AT SAGUARO NATIONAL PARK (EAST)

For Ages 8 to 12 Years Old

Tucson, AZ--- “Look, up in the sky!" will be the catchphrase for junior rangers attending “Astronomy Night" in Saguaro National Park’s Rincon Mountain District (East) on Thursday, February 20 from 6 to 8:30 PM. The program will move from earth orbit to the farthest reaches of space through hands-on activities, and a visit to the Park’s “Star Party" telescope session.

Young people will enjoy games and crafts about our solar system, alien worlds, science careers, black holes, and legends of the stars. The highlight of the evening will undoubtedly be the chance to gaze through a number of telescopes provided by volunteers from the Tucson Amateur Astronomy Association (TAAA.) The “Star Party" portion is also available to adults & siblings by reservation.

Space in the “Astronomy Night" program is limited and advance registration is required. To register your youngster, simply call the Rincon Mountain Visitor Center at (520) 733-5153. (“Star Party" reservations are available at the same phone number.) A fee of $5 per child will be due on the day of camp. Participants, aged 8 to 12 years, should bring a water bottle, snacks, and wear clothing suitable to the weather for chilly evening outdoors. No previous experience as a ‘junior ranger’ is required, ALL are welcome to this great ‘Rodeo Break’ evening activity!
