Kennesaw, GA - Next week, from Monday, June 1 through Friday, June 5, Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park will host a virtual summer camp, entitled “Backyard Virtual Junior Ranger Summer Camp" geared for elementary-aged children. The park is offering this online experience as a way to fill a niche during this time of social distancing when kids might be at home looking for fun and engaging activities that they can participate in.

The online activities will be aired on the park’s Facebook page in the form of pre-recorded videos and suggested supplemental activities, and will be posted in 30 minute increments beginning at 10:00 and ending at 12:00. Each activity varies in length and may or may not fill the full 30 minutes. Cobb Water System also partners with the park for these offerings. The themes for each day are as follows:

Monday: Explore the National Parks

Tuesday: Investigate Kennesaw Mountain

Wednesday: Nature Hunt

Thursday: Civil War Facts

Friday: Look Beneath

No pre-registration is required; participants simply log onto park’s Facebook page to participate. For a full schedule of activities for the Virtual Summer Camp, visit www.nps.gov/KEMO in the events section or follow www.facebook.com/KMNBP.

While currently under limited operations, Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park is using a phased approach to increase on-site access, in accordance with federal and public health guidance; trails and specific parking lots are open for increased access.
