Construction to Impact Visitation June 29 - July 3

The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on June 22, 2020. It is reproduced in full below.

A large construction project is currently underway that will improve physical access to the visitor center area and trail to the base of Devils Tower. These are the first major renovations to the visitor center area since the mid-1950s and will greatly improve experiences at the Tower for all visitors.

Upcoming Construction Impacts, June 29 - July 3

For the safety of visitors, staff, and construction crews, the upper two miles of the park road will be closed to all vehicles from June 29 through July 3 to allow for concrete work and paving of the visitor center parking area. Vehicles will only be permitted along the first mile of park road from the entrance station to the picnic area.

Distant views of Devils Tower can be enjoyed from the picnic area. Longer hiking options taking visitors to the base of the Tower are also possible. Flush toilets and drinking water are available.

For more information, park maps, and other trip planning assistance, check the current conditions page of the park website and social media channels.
