Pu'uhonua o Hōnaunau NHP Will Close In Advance of Hurricane Douglas

Puʻuhonua o Hōnaunau NHP will close in advance of Hurricane Douglas beginning 5:00 pm on Saturday July 25. The park will be closed through Sunday. Park management will be monitoring the storm and assessing damage, if any. The park will determine an appropriate opening time and date based on this assessment.

A Hurricane Watch has been issued for the Island of Hawaii. Please prepare for heavy rainfall, high winds and high surf to parts of the state. Impacts from Douglas could be experienced as early as Saturday night, mainly over the eastern end of the island chain.
