Boat Ramp at Apollo District in Canaveral National Seashore Closing on February 1 For Construction

The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on Jan. 19, 2021. It is reproduced in full below.

Canaveral National Seashore is set to begin construction to rehabilitate a key public access area in the Apollo District, New Smyrna Beach. The boat ramp in the Apollo Beach district (New Smyrna Beach) Canaveral National Seashore will close on Feb. 1, 2021. This popular launching area was damaged by Hurricanes Matthew and Irma. The closure is set to last 8 weeks but may be extended due to inclement weather. The kayak/paddling launch, adjacent to the boat ramp will remain open but may be closed for short periods due to staging of equipment, but no trailer parking or launching at the boat ramp will be permitted. While we understand the inconvenience this may cause, we know that the result will be a well-engineered boat launch that will serve our visitors for many years.
