HONOLULU - Boat transportation to the USS Arizona Memorial continues to be discontinued due to the safety issued detected at the visitor center’s shoreside dock on Sunday December 12. Operations will resume when National Park Service and US Navy personnel deem conditions safe enough for the white boats to use the shoreside dock.
The shoreside dock is past its life expectancy, repetitive stressors such as wakes, and tidal movements contributed to most recent the failure. Every effort will be made to temporarily repair the dock so that visits to the USS Arizona Memorial can resume until a permanent fix can be completed. Fabrication of the new shoreside dock has begun off-site.
Facility specialists from the National Park Service (NPS) are working with Navy Facilities (NAVFAC) staff to provide an estimate and timeline for repair. We hope to get that estimate in the next few days. The shoreside dock was secured earlier today in the effort to reduce any continued damage.
The Pearl Harbor Visitor Center grounds, museums, and park film (on the open-air lanai) are still accessible. Visitors can still participate in the Pacific Historic Parks Audio Tour, VR Center, and visit The Pacific Fleet Submarine Museum, Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum, and the Battleship Missouri Memorial.
Updates will be provided as we learn more. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your flexibility.
