Holiday Visitor Center Closures

Holiday Visitor Center Closures

The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on Dec. 22, 2021. It is reproduced in full below.

In recognition of the federal holidays, the Visitor Center (including restrooms) at Sitka NHP will be closed:

* Christmas Eve, Friday, December 24th

* Christmas Day, Saturday, December 25th

* New Year’s Day, Saturday, January 1st

The grounds will remain open so that visitors may still walk the trails between 7am and 8pm. Please always be alert on trails and aware of potential bears in the area.

Following guidance from the White House, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and state and local public health authorities, we are increasing access and services in a phased approach across all units of the National Park System.

Before visiting a park, please check the park website to determine its operating status. Updates about the overall NPS response to COVID-19 including safety information, are posted on www.nps.gov/coronavirus.
