There was a single-vehicle traffic collision off Emigrant Canyon Road on February 8, 2022. The driver was declared dead at the scene. The vehicle caught on fire, which ignited a small brush fire. The National Park Service, California Highway Patrol, and Inyo County Coroner's Office all responded to the incident.
Vehicle accidents are the most frequent cause of death in Death Valley National Park.
