West Mountain Road to close temporarily for culvert replacement

The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on Feb. 11. It is reproduced in full below.

Hot Springs, AR - West Mountain Road in Hot Springs National Park will close temporarily from Whittington Ave Entrance/Exit to Prospect Ave Entrance/Ext. beginning Monday, February 14 through Monday, Feb. 28, 2022. This closure will allow contractors to replace drainage culverts from West Mountain Summit to the park boundary. It will be necessary for the contractor to trench under the road to replace the 18-inch concrete culverts and install cleanouts along the road shoulders.

This work is necessary to provide proper drainage for traffic safety along the road and for erosion control along West Mountain, where it borders the downtown corridor. The road closure will allow the contractor to work safely to complete the road work prior to the start of the spring rainy season and the increase in visitor traffic during spring break. #
