San Antonio Missions National Historical Park 2021 visitation reaches 1.33 million visitors

SAN ANTONIO- Feb. 23, 2022 - San Antonio Missions National Historical Park, a

UNESCO World Heritage Site, hosted 1.33 million visitors in 2021. Visitation increased by

16% over 2019.

"It's wonderful to see so many visitors enjoy our park and World Heritage Site," said

Superintendent Christine Jacobs, "I’m proud of our staff and partners who worked

diligently to safely provide access to these special places during a time when people needed them the most."

While some of the most well-known national parks again had record visitation in 2021,

numbers across the entire National Park System remained below pre-pandemic totals as

shown in the latest National Park Service published visitation statistics for 2021.

“We’re happy to see so many visitors returning to iconic parks like Yellowstone and

Yosemite, but there are hundreds more that should be on everyone’s bucket list. Whatever

experience you’re looking for in 2022, national parks are here to discover," said National

Park Service Director Chuck Sams.

When planning your visits to national parks, think about the other parks around the area to

visit. When planning your visit to San Antonio Missions, consider also making your way up

to Lyndon B Johnson National Historical Park, or south to Padre Island National Seashore

or Palo Alto Battlefield National Historical Park.
