Dayton Aviation Heritage National Historical Park expects to release the General Management Plan Amendment for a 30-day public comment period

The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on Feb. 28. It is reproduced in full below.

Dayton Aviation Heritage National Historical Park expects to release the General Management Plan Amendment for a 30-day public comment period on Feb. 28, 2022. The park’s 1997 General ManagementPlan and 2005 General Management Amendment provided the park and partners with management direction in the past, but portions of that guidance require review and updating as park conditions have changed. In 2009, legislation (Public Law 111-11, March 30, 2009) added two new areas to the park’s legislated boundary-Hawthorn Hill and Wright Company Factory. Copies of the Draft Dayton Aviation Heritage National Historical Park General Management Plan Amendment 2022 will be available at the National Park Service’s Planning, Environment and Public Comment site,https://parkplanning.nps.gov/daav-gmpa, starting Feb. 28, 2022.

“Dayton Aviation Heritage National Historical Park is a uniquely partner-focused national park that manages multiple, scattered locations in Dayton, Oakwood and Fairborn to tell visitors the inspirational stories of the Wright Brothers and Paul Laurence Dunbar," said Park Superintendent Kendell Thompson. “This plan reaffirms the mission, purpose, and significance of the park, while also providing important management direction for the next two decades."
