Tucson, AZ - On April 1, Saguaro National Park reopened both the Red Hills and Rincon Mountain Visitor Centers in the west and east district of the park. Information, exhibits, pass sales, and retail sales provided by Western National Parks Association, are now available inside the building from 9am to 5pm daily.
“There are still some things that may look a little different, but we are happy to be able to reopen spaces to the public that have been closed since 2020," according to Andy Fisher, Chief of Interpretation. “We will continue to have information services and rangers in our outside spaces so that visitors have a choice that best suits their needs"
The theater in the Red Hills Visitor Center (west) has also reopened and the beloved video program is being shown regularly throughout the day. The video program in the Rincon Mountain Visitor Center (east) is having some technical difficulties and will resume as soon as the system is repaired.
Ranger programs are also being offered at both visitor centers. To see what both the east and west district have to offer during your visit, visit www.nps.gov/sagu/planyourvisit/calendar.htm Some programs require advanced reservations, though group sizes have been increased to meet normal park operation requirements. The calendar is updated regularly, so check back often to see what new and exciting opportunities are in store for you and your family. There may additional programs scheduled as staffing allows that do not require reservations. Check the information boards at the visitor centers when you arrive to see what else may be available.
Occupancy limits and mask requirements have been lifted for interior spaces, and visitors are encouraged to use their discretion about entering facilities while maintaining appropriate physical distance and good handwashing habits.
“We expect to continue this new resumption of normal operations unless the CDC changes their community transmission rating for Southern Arizona or provides additional guidance regarding the ongoing COVID pandemic", Fisher added.
