GETTYSBURG, PA. - A portion of the battlefield horse trail will be closed to all use to resurface the trail. The closure section, 3,000 linear feet between United States Avenue and North Sickles Avenue, will be closed on August 29 and 30 (rain date on September 1). This project will improve drainage, replace the subbase of stone in select areas, and renew the wearing course of Antietam base.

This section of trail gets the heaviest use of all the horse trails from permit holders coming from both directions. This project is replacement in kind and follows the hierarchy established for trails in the park.
