Motor Vehicle Accident in the Exit Glacier Area of Kenai Fjords National Park

On Saturday, September 10th, at approximately 1 am, Soldotna Public Safety Communications Center received a 9-1-1 call reporting a motor vehicle accident along Herman-Leirer Rd. Kenai Fjords National Park Rangers, Alaska State Troopers, and the Seward Police Department responded along with volunteers from Bear Creek Fire Department the Seward Volunteer Ambulance Corps.

The accident scene was located within the boundaries of Kenai Fjords National Park in the trees near the Exit Glacier parking lot. Two people were located outside the heavily damaged vehicle and transported to Providence Seward Medical Center. Speed is believed to have been a factor leading to the accident. A joint National Park Service / Alaska State Trooper investigation is ongoing.
