Concord, NH - Around noon today, this week’s “Fugitive of the Week," Seamus Murphy, 37, was arrested by members of the U.S. Marshals - NH Joint Fugitive Task Force in Chester, NH. The Marshals were looking for Murphy on a warrant alleging violations of his conditions of supervised release. Murphy is on supervised release as part of his sentence after being convicted of bank robbery in the U.S. District Court for New Hampshire back in 2016.
Murphy was featured just yesterday as the “Fugitive of the Week." This feature was aired on WTPL-FM, WMUR-TV, The Union Leader, The Nashua Telegraph, The Patch, Foster’s Daily Democrat, Manchester Information, the Manchester Ink Link, the Rochester Voice and prominently featured on the internet. The “Fugitive of the Week" has been a very successful tool that has resulted in the location and arrest of numerous fugitives since its implementation in 2007. Additionally, the “Fugitive of the Week" is distributed statewide to all law enforcement officers.
Several tips were received by the U.S. Marshals - NH Joint Fugitive Task Force pointing to a possible employer and residence on Fremont Street in Chester, NH. As a result of this information, members of the task force went to this location today shortly after noon-time and were able to locate and arrest Mr. Murphy without any incident.
Murphy has been transported to the U.S. District Court in Concord, NH, where he will have an initial court appearance later today.
This arrest was made by several members of the NH Joint Fugitive Task Force, including members from the Hillsborough, Rockingham & Strafford County Sheriff’s Offices, the Greenfield Police Department along with deputy U.S. Marshals.
Since the inception of the New Hampshire Joint Fugitive Task Force in 2002, these partnerships have resulted in over 7,475 arrests (Updated as of 12/10/2018). These arrests have ranged in seriousness from murder, assault, unregistered sex offenders, probation and parole violations and numerous other serious offenses. Nationally the United States Marshals Service fugitive programs are carried out with local law enforcement in 94 district offices, 85 local fugitive task forces, 8 regional task forces, as well as a growing network of offices in foreign countries.
