Thank you. We thank the mandate holders and UNICEF for their tireless work to ensure children around the world are safe. What services and tools exist to ensure that children exposed to violence and those who are survivors of violence receive timely and trauma-informed support and assistance, including mental health and psychological services?
We are deeply concerned about the number of violations of international human rights law and international humanitarian law committed against children, especially in Afghanistan, South Sudan, Somalia, Syria, and Yemen.
UNICEF recently reported that nearly 1,000 children have been injured or killed in Ukraine since Russia’s premeditated and unjustified renewed invasion began, and Russia’s “filtration” operations have and continue to separate thousands more children from their parents. Children in Ukraine are being exposed to violence every day. We continue to call on Russia to stop its war against Ukraine.
