The Energy Department will present a live webinar titled "Overcoming Wind Siting Challenges III: Public Acceptance and Land Use" on Wednesday, June 17, at 3:00 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time. Join moderator Patrick Gilman from the U.S. Department of Energy and presenters Ben Hoen from Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and Suzanne Tegen from the National Renewable Energy Laboratory for the third in a series of webinars covering wind energy siting challenges. Attendees will hear discussions on wind energy development on federal lands, public perception of wind projects and its associated effects on project development, and how developers of successful projects addressed siting challenges.

The Energy Department will present a live webinar titled "Measuring the Impact of Benchmarking and Transparency-Methodologies and the NYC Example" on Thursday, June 18, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time. Attendees will learn more about recently released resources geared at helping stakeholders analyze the impacts of building energy benchmarking policies and programs. The Energy Department's Benchmarking and Transparency Policy and Program Impact Evaluation Handbook provides cost-effective, standardized analytic methods for measuring gross and net energy reduction, greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions mitigation, job creation, and economic growth impacts. And the New York City Benchmarking and Transparency Policy Impact Evaluation Report explains methodologies to use for evaluating New York City's benchmarking policy Local Law 84.

June 24: Live Webinar on Buildings of the Future

The Energy Department will present a live webinar titled "Codes and Regulations for Buildings of the Future" on Tuesday, June 23, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time. This webinar is the first in a series of panel discussions on the future of the built environment, and attendees are encouraged to join panelists in discussing the future of energy codes and regulatory reforms. Guest speakers Steven Nadel with the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy, Duane Jonlin with the City of Seattle's Department of Planning and Development, and Michael Rosenberg with Pacific Northwest National Laboratory will discuss what energy codes might be like in the distant future and how codes may drive future building safety, efficiency, and sustainability. They will also share their views on zero-net-energy buildings, future retrofits codes, restructuring codes in order to provide more flexibility, and policy platforms that address fresh-air rights, solar rights, and connected neighborhoods.

June 23: Live Webinar on New Construction Hybrids

The Energy Department will present a live webinar titled "New Construction Hybrid-Ductless Heat Pumps Study; Resistance is Futile" on Wednesday, June 24, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time. This Building America Program webinar focuses on the use of ductless heat pumps (DHP) as a hybrid "all electric" heating system in new high performance homes. Attendees will hear a presentation detailing DHPs and related energy and economic analyses based on monitored field results from an ENERGY STAR community called The Woods at Golden Given, built by Habitat for Humanity. Presenters include Micahael Lubliner with Washington State University and Bruce Carter with Tacoma Power.

The Energy Department presented a live webinar titled "2nd International Hydrogen Infrastructure Challenges Webinar" on Tuesday, March 10. This webinar summarizes the 2nd international information exchange on hydrogen refueling infrastructure challenges and potential solutions to support the successful global commercialization of hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles. The information exchange took place in May 2014 at Toyota's Torrance, California, facility as a follow up to the previous June 2013 workshop in Berlin, Germany. Participants included topical experts from Germany, Japan, the United States, Scandinavia, and the European Commission.
