Assistant Secretary Bruce J. Walker Testifies on Puerto Rico’s Grid

On July 25, 2018, Bruce J. Walker, Assistant Secretary for the Office of Electricity (OE) and Acting Assistant Secretary for the Office of Cybersecurity, Energy Security, and Emergency Response (CESER), testified before the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Natural Resources during a hearing on Puerto Rico’s grid.

Mr. Walker highlighted the Department’s response, recovery and restoration efforts in Puerto Rico. He also discussed how the Southern States Energy Board (SSEB), in association with the Department of Energy (DOE), is working in coordination with the governor and legislature of Puerto Rico to establish a reliable, affordable, and sustainable electric energy grid system. In addition, Mr. Walker discussed DOE’s report on and the Department’s near-term and long-term grid modeling support to support the rebuilding of a more resilient electric power grid system in Puerto Rico.
