Valles Caldera National Preserve has extended the time vehicles can travel the entire backcountry route from October 31 to November 15. This gives an extra two weeks to drive into the backcountry to experience the changing of the seasons and explore the wonders of the park.
Starting November 16, most of the backcountry route will close to vehicles. The winter backcountry route for vehicles will extend from the Entrance Station up to the cabin district. Depending on weather and road conditions, vehicle may be allowed beyond the cabin district as far as the northern end of Valle Grande.
