About the Confluence Gallery
The refuge’s Confluence Gallery, located in the Bloomington Education and Visitor Center, is a venue for emerging and established Minnesota-based artists who reflect the community and excel at creating artwork with a focus on nature and natural elements, ecology, conservation, and/or the beauty of the Minnesota River Valley. The Confluence Gallery aims to serve as a conduit between the natural world and the local community; inspiring, educating, and connecting refuge visitors to the natural world.

Places of Refuge: An Artist's Year in Batik by Kim Gordon
Have you ever wondered how experiencing nature through all of our senses can turn into beautiful works of art? Explore the sensory-inspired paintings of Minneapolis artist, Kim Gordon, this October 28th through December 30th at Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge. Gordon brings outdoor experiences into the studio by first spending quiet time in a place while the light changes in the sky, birds call and fly over, and the wind creates sounds in the grasses and leaves and carries the smells of the earth. These experiences build a lasting memory of the landscape, seeding the beautiful paintings you can explore this fall at the refuge in the Confluence Gallery. Read more here.
