Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced Nov. 4 the Franklin Talent Exchange Partnership between the Department of State and the private sector organizations as part of the modernization agenda.

The program is an opportunity for private sector organizations interested in advancing foreign policy in economic growth, energy, agriculture, the ocean, the environment and science and technology, according to the Office of Global Partnerships website.

“Happy to join @GPatState in announcing the Franklin Talent Exchange Partnership as part of our modernization Agenda. FTEP offers professional exchange opportunities between @StateDept and the private sector,” Blinken said in a tweet.

Originally launched in 2008, the Franklin Fellows Program has been redesigned to feature the Franklin Talent Exchange Partnership (FTEP) partnership program between the U.S. Department of State and private sector after Blinken launched the Modernization of American Diplomacy Initiative last year, the website reported.

Participants must be U.S. citizens and senior or midlevel professionals. They will serve in a one-year unpaid partnership at the U.S. Department of State, according to the website. However, this is not a path to guaranteed employment at the State Department. Employers are responsible for nominating future participants.
