Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken met with Bahamian Foreign Minister Frederick Mitchell today in Washington, D.C. Secretary Blinken and Foreign Minister Mitchell discussed The Bahamas’ goals for its upcoming (January 2023) Chairmanship of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM). The Secretary thanked the Foreign Minister for The Bahamas’ partnership on climate change, particularly under the U.S.-Caribbean Partnership to Address the Climate Crisis 2030. The Secretary and the Foreign Minister also discussed the multidimensional crisis in Haiti and stressed the importance of bilateral cooperation to promote the prosperity and security of the American and Bahamian people.
