USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) is extending the application deadline for residents living in the delineated EWPP-FPE Hurricane Ida, Brook Lane project area to November 30, 2022.
Through EWPP-FPE, eligible applicants voluntarily agree to sell a permanent conservation easement to the United States through NRCS and the remaining fee title to the Sponsor (in this case, the Village of Rye Brook). Compensation is determined by an appraisal. These easements may occur on non-agricultural lands with residences damaged by flooding and natural disasters. NRCS and the Village of Rye Brook will work together to restore the easement to its natural floodplain condition.
“We are committed to the Village of Rye Brook and its citizens, by partnering with the Village to address the damage left by Hurricane Ida,” Blake Glover, NRCS State Conservationist, said. “Together we will work to restore the floodplain to address future flooding events, enhance fish and wildlife habitat, and improve water quality.”
