The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of Census Bureau on March 15, 2017. It is reproduced in full below.

MARCH 15, 2017 - The U.S. Census Bureau released statistics from the first wave of the 2014 Survey of Income and Program Participation. This is the Census Bureau's premier survey for measuring the dynamics of income, employment, health insurance and participation in government transfer programs. Accompanying the release are six research briefs that illustrate important demographic, fertility, program and wealth measures.

Wave 1 briefs:

* Demographics and Living Arrangements: 2013

* Monthly and Average Monthly Poverty Rates by Selected Demographic Characteristics: 2013

* Fertility Research Brief

* Multiple Partner Fertility Research Brief

* Participation Rates and Monthly Payments From Selected Social Insurance Programs

* Improvements to Measuring Net Worth of Households: 2013

The Census Bureau will release additional briefs highlighting other relevant topics from the first wave over the coming months. Briefs from the second wave of the survey are tentatively scheduled for late September.

The Survey of Income and Program Participation is a longitudinal survey that involves repeated observations of the same people over a four-year period. It allows researchers to understand how income level and participation in assistance programs change over time.
