Effective March 20, in support of guidance on what we can all do to, the U.S. Census Bureau has temporarily suspended in-person interviews for its ongoing surveys. The Census Bureau is closely monitoring this situation and will continue to do everything we can to protect the health and safety of the public and our employees.
Adhering to social distancing guidance from federal, state and local public health authorities, the Census Bureau has modified all of its data collection protocols to eliminate personal visits. Where feasible, census field workers will call survey participants and seek to collect the necessary information over the phone.
Many of these surveys have been conducted without interruption for 50 years or more, and form the bedrock of the nation’s statistical system, along with the decennial census. We encourage everyone to participate in these surveys if they are contacted - responding is especially important right now, as these surveys will help accurately measure the impact of the coronavirus.
