Statement from Census Bureau Director Dr. Steven Dillingham

The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of Census Bureau on June 23, 2020. It is reproduced in full below.

I am pleased to welcome two new staff joining the U.S. Census Bureau, Nathaniel Cogley, PhD. as Deputy Director for Policy, and Adam Korzeniewski, as Senior Advisor to the Deputy Director for Policy.

Dr. Cogley and Mr. Korzeniewski will assist the great work underway at the Census Bureau. Dr. Cogley has a distinguished academic background, and Mr. Korzeniewski has exemplary military and public service experience, including prior Census Bureau fieldwork.

As we resume operations delayed by the COVID19 pandemic, the support of Dr. Cogley and Mr. Korzeniewski will help the Census Bureau achieve a complete and accurate 2020 Census and study future improvements. Recognizing that our data collections are becoming increasingly complex and rely upon new technologies, innovations and reforms, it is imperative that we consider public, private, and not-for-profit sector needs for relevant and quality data. The importance of more and better data for decision making will continue as the heart of the Census Bureau mission.
